Faking Freckles, the Most Perfect Imperfection

I don’t know about you, but I am loving the new look in makeup recently. It’s a carefully-cultivated natural look and, in my opinion, a universally-flattering one, for all ages and ethnicities. The complexion is radically flushed — overtly blushed, in fact — and skin is shiny and all aglow, the lips are plump and wildly overlined, for sure, but with a softer, diffused border now. Plastic glued-on lashes look dated as we shift to a more fresh-faced look, some even embracing the ‘ghost lashes’ of the grunge era, while others of us turn to lash serums and an optional coat of mascara, in lieu of the glue. I love it all. But most of all, I’m loving the freckles. These cute, youthful sunspots are all the rage now. Thank you, Emily Ratajkowski and company! This is the new face to embrace.

Freckles look natural, innocent and wholesome, even if you are *none* of the above! But, if you are not endowed with these charming imperfections that speak of carefree, sun-drenched days by the beach, allow me to enlighten you by telling you that you can Freck yourself with the Original Freckle Pen by Freck Beauty. I have a face full of freckles, but the’ve faded a wee bit, so even I want a freckle pen, to maximize my freckled self! The Freck OG freckle pen has gone viral, also boasting a celeb cult following. It’s easy to use, they claimed, foolproof. So I tried it, to find out just how foolproof. Here’s my verdict: I found it rather effortless and the big bennies to fauxing your freckles is two-fold. First, you’re saving your skin the UV damage of those quote-unquote hard-earned little dots. Just faux them on instead! And the second big benefit is that you can place your freckles precisely where you want them for maximum impact. I like to stipple a little constellation low on the cheekbones and put a spattering over the bridge of the nose. It’s so cute. Check out the online tutorials from the Freck site. These girls have game!

Sadly, natural freckles will appear where nature determines it but with the Freck OG, you can become your own Freckle God. Decide exactly where you want them, how many, and how bold. It’s a fun look and I think the Freck OG pen works quite well layered over the brand’s Cheekslime, which gives that radically-flushed cheek that you may seek. This is an interesting product by Freck Beauty that you might want to check out, in addition to their soft pencil lip liners which allow for the aforementioned wildly overlined lips, and in beautiful colors. I really like Nude Muse. In fact, Freck Beauty is a great emerging brand for creating the new face to embrace.

Well, that’s it for today. Talk to you soon.
