Kevyn Aucoin Lives On
I am so excited to announce that the great Kevyn Aucoin lives on in his eponymous line of cosmetics.
Kevyn, pictured above with sister Carla, died ten years ago, but not before leaving an indelible mark in the world of makeup, and touching the hearts of countless celebrities and models.
The many faces of Kevyn include Cher, Madonna, Demi Moore, Lisa Marie Presley, Vanessa Williams, Janet Jackson, and the list goes on.
His inventive line of cosmetics developed a cult following from celebrities and fellow artists but was discontinued after his death.
The high-quality pigmented products, expertly color choiced, brought techniques formerly used only by makeup artists for theatre and film, to the masses.
The Kevyn Aucoin line is now available at Bloomingdale’s in San Francisco and Barneys New York.
Here are just a few of my favorite products from Kevyn’s line.
The Volume Mascara, $25.
Cher uses this stuff. Self-explanatory.
The Sculpting Powder, $42.
A genius color for sculpting and slimming the face. I would say that 99 percent of the female population does not contour their faces on a regular basis when applying their makeup. But they should, and this powder makes it beautifully possible.
The Sensual Skin Enhancer, $45.
My favorite concealer ever. So much pigment in a creamy, opaque concoction. You only need a pinpoint for imperfections, and the color palette is, once again, perfection. A must for every artist’s kit, and every woman’s makeup wardrobe.
Thank you, Kevyn, if you are watching…
