Beauty Secret Weapon: The Simple Safety Pin

I guess I was onto something back in junior high when my mom, a teacher, would come in early for work. As a student at the same school district where she taught, when Mom went in early, I went in early.

There wasn’t much to do. Studying was certainly never an alternative to primping. Instead of reading Don Quixote, I curled my eyelashes and put on mascara. Lots of it. But it looked so great–I would painstakingly separate each lash with a safety pin from her top drawer of office supplies.

Recently I’ve been hearing about famous makeup artists using the very same trick on their celebrity clients. It seems that many stars, including Julia Roberts, are fans of the safety pin technique.
