Where It’s At: Calf Hair
Hi guys, there’s a new trend that has me all hot and bothered, and it’s calf hair. In shoes and bags, nothing could be more current.
For animal lovers such as myself, it is important to know that calf hair actually comes from farmed cows that are slaughtered for food. I just picked up the most stunning oversized lipstick red Dior bag, above, composed entirely of calf hair and patent leather, with bold silver hardware. And although red is always right, I am so loving embossed calf hair. Take a look at these memorable statement-makers.
Houndstooth takes on fresh newness, above, in Jerome C. Rousseau’s embossed calf hair and patent leather ankle boots, $895, with a stacked heel and back zip.
You will be seeing a lot of embossed calf hair. I’m crazy about exotic animal prints with the look. Diane von Furstenberg combines these elements brilliantly in her leopard calf hair embossed ankle booties, $350, at Saks Fifth Avenue. I love the corseted lace-up back and hidden inner platform. Sexy. Coming or going, they are hot.
Leopard, giraffe and tiger prints look right-on, combining two of the top fall trends in one stunning piece. What could be more precious than these Givenchy ballet flats, $590, above?
And look at the silhouette on these peep-toe wedge boots by Giuseppe Zanotti, $1,195. They cut quite a profile. I have never seen anything like them. With a red pedicure? Divine.
I love the dark interpretation by Dolce & Gabbana in this fuzzy satchel, $3,245, below.
Solid black calf hair, on the other hand, looks sleek and modern, with a panther-like sheen. I am in love with Fendi’s ankle boot, $1,320, below, in simple, stunning ebony. So elegant and versatile. Take a close look at the back of the heel. Gorgeous.
Look for calf hair in seasons to come. You’ll love it.
