Blowing Smoke: Quitting Cigarettes Through Hypnosis
Mark Twain, the famous author and wit, once said, “Quitting smoking is easy, I’ve done it thousands of times.”
And he was right; quitting isn’t the hard part, it’s staying off cigs that’s the challenge.
It’s really too bad that life doesn’t have an undo function or a delete key. There are a few things, if I could, I would do, or better yet, not do. One of my Beauty Resolutions for 2012, quitting smoking has been a long-term dream and 20+ year struggle. I’ve tried the patches, the gum, the lozenges–even Chantix, the pharmaceutical drug which blocks nicotine receptors in your brain…but also causes suicide ideation in certain individuals. Hmmmm, how healthy can that be?
Finally I did it. It cost me 250 bucks, but the great thing about it is, if I ever relapse, I can just do it all over again. It was so much easier than I thought it would be—it took less than an hour—thanks to Dr. Roberta Temes. Now I have been off cigs for six weeks, with zero cravings.
Dr. Roberta is a psychotherapist with a Ph.D. in counseling psychology. She practiced psychotherapy for more than 35 years in New York City, and is currently a faculty member at Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn.
She is available for hypnosis by phone, and it really, really works. Author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Hypnosis, below, available at Amazon, Roberta is the real deal and I would recommend her to absolutely anyone.
Quitting smoking was the best present I ever gave my mom for Mother’s Day, and the best gift I’ve ever given to myself. Now if Dr. Roberta could only make me want to clean and cook. Oh well.
