Where It’s At: Tights
Bedazzled, graphic, or simply solid…tights are where it’s at. I wrote about the legwear trend back in February, but that trend has bloomed into something so unique and unexpected. I’m beyond excited about the creativity that we are seeing in fashionable hosiery now, not only in the designs of the tights themselves, but also, the way that tights are currently being styled.
For example, a neutral or monochrome ensemble, punctuated with a bright, opaque, matte tight looks really modern to me. I call it ‘the statement leg.’ It’s stylish yet studied.
I love tights styled with a shrunken minidress, a short bubble skirt or kilt, or even — and this is *definitely* an unexpected fashion statement — worn in lieu of leggings with a slouchy sweater or structured blazer just long enough to cover your assets. That is, if you’ve got the legs for it. Keep it short and sweet. This is also a very new and contemporary look, the no-pants look. Tights are the superior stand-in for leggings. I think it’s hot. After all, who needs pants anyway?

“Print pantyhose,” also known as graphic tights, are my newest fascination. They’ll keep your legs warm while looking cool. My favorite brand is by Viken. In animal print, graphic tights are a classic. Check the way Viken Plan interprets the leopard with their Neon Hunt tights. These graphic tights pair perfectly with camel or chocolate, yes, but I got them to wear with all-black. You don’t even need a single accessory when you wear graphic tights! Or pile them on as seen below where more is, clearly, more!

Now these are Christmas stockings! The holidays will surely be all the more merry and bright when you’re wearing *themed* tights! How festive. I got these candy cane cuties myself, also from Viken Plan, for Christmas this year. They’re fire. And Viken has an entire array of Christmas tights that are equally exciting.
I love the way the model wears these tights with a shrunken black velvet dress, a whimsical peekaboo petticoat and a scarlet purse. A red organza flower, pinned whimsically at the cleavage, ties into the popular floral theme that’s so prominent now. But I’ll be styling these tights with an abbreviated black bubble skirt that I acquired recently in Paris! J’aime!

Did someone say hot chocolate? Yes please! I really dig the autumnal vibe above, awash in earth tones and punctuated with one, single crimson element: the *essential* patent-leather shoe! Perfection.
The styling in this shot is on-point. It looks so chic and composed. And in case you’re wondering, yes, I also bought these tights. Again, no accessories required. Let your tights do the talking!
Viken’s tights come in endless patterns, colors and styles. Honestly, they’re like art for your legs. The company’s creativity is seemingly bottomless, with new arrivals almost every day. I feel like tights are an essential right now and especially the graphic tights that you see in this article.
Solid, striped, dotted or wild, pick up a pair of tights (or two or three!) for winter and go crazy with the creativity as legs take the limelight for fall!
