How To Wash Your Lingerie (and Cashmere!)

I’m always on the hunt to find beauty products that make life easier. As a girl, the world is complicated enough and sometimes I feel like there’s not enough hours in the day. When I’m doing the laundry it’s tempting to just throw all my delicates into the washing machine and worry about it later, but washing machines are your lingerie’s worst enemy. It’s a fact that an ordinary washing machine will shred your delicates and destroy the underwire in your bras, negating the support and structure that your bra is intended to provide. That’s why I fell in love with Eucalan, and its sister product, Wrapture.

Eucalan is a no-rinse wash for your delicates, and it’s like no other product on the market. It does its job and it does it well, all while smelling utterly divine, and all without having to endlessly rinse and re-rinse your intimates and your cashmere. Just soak for 15-30 minutes and you’re done!

Eucalan is the hybrid word for Eucalyptus and Lanolin, and that’s because it smells of fresh eucalyptus leaves and contains just a trace of lanolin to act as a natural fabric softener.

It also comes in lavendar, grapefruit and unscented, and now, in Wrapture.

Wrapture, created by designer Kristin Omdahl, is the same no-rinse formula but infused with intoxicating night blooming jasmine, and wow does it smell good. Jasmine is a natural antiseptic, making it an excellent choice for cleansing your most beautiful of bras and precious of panties! Because the essential oils used in Eucalan and Wrapture repel moths, they also work for hand-knit items and your very best cashmere.

Said managing director Jennifer Edgar, “I love cashmere and wear it year round. I use the sink and soak my garment in tepid water with a teaspoon of Eucalan for about half an hour. I squeeze the water and Eucalan through and then lift the garment out and squeeze out as much water as possible by rolling in a towel then lay it flat to dry,” she added. “If necessary I’ll use the spin cycle on my machine to remove the excess water. When the item is dry I give it a shake to fluff it up. There’s nothing better than freshly-washed cashmere!”

Except, of course, freshly-washed lingerie! Thanks, Eucalan!
